Lihir Operation is a tier-one open cut mining operation based on Aniolam island, in the Lihir Group of Islands, located in New Ireland Province approximately 800km north of Port Moresby. It is one of the world’s largest producing gold mines and is located on a geothermally active extinct volcanic crater. Production first commenced in 1997. The operation consists of an open pit mine producing refractory ore, which is treated using pressure oxidation before the gold is recovered by a conventional leach process.

About The Role

Reporting to the Senior Specialist – Marine Maintenance, we are on the lookout for a Technician Mechanical -Marine Maintenance

Your Key Accountabilities Include

• HEF/MVM Trade Certificate or relevant mechanical trade qualification essential.
• PNG National Drivers Class 6 License essential.
• Working at Heights Qualifications highly desirable
• Elevated Work Platform Qualifications highly desirable
• Overhead Gantry Crane Qualifications highly desirable
• Forklift qualifications highly desirable
• Equipment testing and adjusting qualifications highly desirable
  

Selection Criteria

3 – 5 years relevant work experience essential in heavy industry preferably within a mining environment; either through experience in a similar operation or through progression as an NML Trainee Operator.

• Relevant experience in maintaining equipment in mobile flee
• Be able to work a FIFO roster
• Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment
• Must be able to complete a National Police Check & Navex Risk Rate Screening

This role is offered on a 28:14 Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) roster from multiple locations in PNG to Lihir island.
