About the role
- The fixed plant maintenance electrician is responsible for providing Electrical and instrumentation technical support in all operational and maintenance aspects, including high voltage, low voltage, process control systems, controls circuits, VSD’s and protection relays.
- Training of T/A Electrician to effectively monitor and maintain the electrical systems in the plant, with reference to the electrical components.
Key / Major Accountabilities
Key accountabilities of this position include.
- Ensuring the achievement of budgeted maintenance targets by applying effective preventative maintenance practices through scheduled inspections, adjustments, and timely repair of equipment.
- Maintain and fault find complexed electrical control circuits ensuring they function as per design and all process and safety interlocks work correctly.
- Installation, maintenance, and programming of motor variable speed device’s VSD’s.
- Programme and maintain HV protection relays ensuring electrical discrimination and protection is maintained.
- Switching and isolation of HV and LV Electrical circuits.
You
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have a NATTB Trade Certificate as well a current electrical license. You will also need to demonstrate experience in the installation and maintenance of power distribution systems, transformers, motor control centers and starters. In addition to this, you will have some or all the following.
- Five (5) years’ experience working in a mining environment.
- You must have a High Voltage switching ticket.
- Must have experience in programming VSD’s.
- Must have instrumentation knowledge.
- Experience with large Ball Mills and/or SAG Mills electrical drive systems.
- Must be a self-starter and very resourceful with ability to find solutions to problems to ensure the equipment availability is high.
