TECHNICAL SPECIALIST – CRANE SERVICES

Based in Tabubil and reporting to the Manager Ancillary Equipment & Cranes, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support and guidance in the operation, maintenance, and safety of cranes and rigging equipment.

Your role will involve:

  • Ensuring the effective and efficient execution of lifting operations by developing and implementing technical procedures, conducting inspections, and providing necessary training to personnel;
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with industry standards, enhancing operational safety, and optimizing performance to support the organization’s goals and objectives;
  • Participating in planning and scheduling maintenance activities by monitoring practices and ensuring best practices are followed;
  • Providing additional guidance if maintenance planning falls below agreed timelines and supporting continuous improvement;
  • Focusing on the reliability engineering function to ensure the right work is being done and reducing waste;
  • Providing technical input into complex root cause analyses and equipment failures;
  • Managing contractor performance against their scope of work, including safety, quality, timing, and cost; and
  • Assisting the Superintendent in providing the necessary leadership to the team when required.

To be considered, you must possess the following:

  • A degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent competence through experience;
  • Licensed Crane Operator;
  • A PNG Class 1 Driver’s License as a minimum;
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in maintenance and operation roles;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in team leadership and management roles;
  • Experience in a remote setting is an advantage;
  • Demonstrated cranes and rigging skills with certification;
  • Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling for a large team;
  • Good computer literacy and numeracy skills;
  • Strong leadership and personnel management abilities;
  • Attention to detail in planning and discipline;
  • Solid experience in contract development and negotiation expertise; and
  • A highly motivated, self-driven team player with a positive attitude.
