The Supervisor is responsible for the immediate supervision of various technical staff, Both Barrick employees and contractors, who are undertaking works in and around the mine and camp sites.

The key function of the Supervisor is to ensure compliance with the company’s WHSE objectives. Other important functions are to ensure the efficient and cost-effective use of labour and materials in order to obtain the maximum benefit for Barrick.

The ideal candidate must have: 
•   Strong experience with small – medium Sewerage Treatment and Water Treatment Plants in remote sites
•   Communicate safety and production issues on a shift-by-shift basis 
•   Ensure planning and execution of work activities by employees and contractors adheres to the NPL Environment Policy and meets agreed environmental objectives and targets.
•   Minimum three years’ experience 
•   Demonstrated experience in supervising teams 
•   Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
•   Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas. 
•   Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems and email. 
•   Experience with ultra-filtration and sand clarifier water plants will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
•   Strong experience with small – medium Sewerage Treatment and Water Treatment Plants in remote sites
•   Maintain the New Porgera Limited Water & Sewerage Treatments Plants in order to meet the standards and requirements of the company’s Environmental Management Plan.
•   Assign tasks, equipment, work areas and targets to safely and efficiently achieve those targets
•   Guide the team in the completion of tasks, to ensure achievement of the job plan.
•   Promote a high level of health and safety awareness and compliance with the NPL Occupational Health and Safety Policy 
•   Communicate safety and work issues on a shift-by-shift basis 
•   Carry out workplace inspections and monitor employees and contractors in their tasks. 
•   Thorough knowledge of STP and WTP operations 
•   Knowledge of testing techniques and ability to interpret results
•   Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant PJV policies & procedures.

Mobilization Requirement 
•   This position is open to PNG Citizens Only 
•   Rotation is FIFO, 28 days on and 14 days off
•   Must Have an up to date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
