Quality Control and Drill/Blast Supervisor

Monier Limited, the single largest producer, supplier and distributor
of construction materials and building products in PNG is seeking to
recruit suitable qualified and highly motivated individual for the
position: Quality Control and Drill/Blast Supervisor Supervise the day-to-day operation of Quality Control and Drilling
and Blasting operation to produce aggregates and other pavement
materials required in the construction industry. Duties include:

Manage, Lead and Supervise personnel performing aggregates production testing.Act as the shot controller/blaster and ensure final quality inspection for every blast.Supervise personnel performing drilling and blasting activities.Ensure that Safety is always observed in performing blasting operation especially in handling explosives.Perform a prestart meeting before any blasting operation and ensure
that each personnel understand the health hazards and correct handling
of explosives.Ensures that personnel are well informed on the restrictions in handling explosives, information in MSDS and other risk.Estimate explosives to be used in a particular blast and load blast holes in such a way that explosive wastage is controlled.Ensure arrangement of transport for the conveyance of explosives.Ensure vehicles involved in transportation of explosives are operational and well maintained to avoid delay in the operation.Maintain a daily, weekly and monthly stock usage monitor chart and submit report to Quarry Manager.Monthly budgeting forecasts for drilling and blasting requirements.Ordering and stocking of all necessary explosive requirements to
maintain all production assets that are deemed the responsibility of the
Quality and Drill/Blast Supervisor.Ensure that explosive permits and licenses (storing, handling, usage
and conveyance) are all up to date for the current year including
blaster’s permit.Ensure that production samples are being undertaken accordingly based on the production figures submitted.Regularly perform daily small safety talks to operators regarding
pre-start equipment checks and ensure that all defects are reported and
attended to.Conduct weekly meetings in every section addressing economics and safety operations.Performs other blasting operation as directed to.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

Tertiary education in Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering from reputable school.Good communication in verbal as well as written communication.Computer literate in Excell and Word.Good community deliverance.At least 2 years’ Experience in Blasting and Quality Control especially in the Quarrying and Mining Industry.Ability to lead a small to medium size of diverse cultural group of personnel.Adherence to company safety rules and regulations.
