The Trainee Tyre Fitter will support the Mobile Maintenance team by learning and assisting in the installation, repair, and maintenance of tyres on various heavy mining equipment. This role is designed for individuals looking to start a career in the mining industry with a focus on tyre maintenance.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Minimum of grade 8 or above education
  • Basic mechanical knowledge or experience is an advantage.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Physical ability to handle heavy equipment and tools.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated with a strong desire to learn.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to work under supervision and take initiative when necessary.
  • Adaptable and flexible to work in varying conditions and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the inspection, fitting, and maintenance of tyres on a range of mining equipment.
  • Learn to identify and report tyre damage and wear to prevent equipment downtime.
  • Support the team in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to develop technical skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in the documentation and record keeping of tyre maintenance activities. 
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with industry standards and best practices.
  • Promote high standard with environmental practices covering all areas from storage of oil, disposal of rubbish to handling wastewater.
  • Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures

Mobilization Requirement 

  • This position is open to Local Porgerans, CAT 1A, CAT 1B & CAT 2 ONLY
  • The roster is 14 days on and 7 days off
  • Must Have an up-to-date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
