This full time Local award, Trade Assistant role attracts a highly competitive remuneration package including Nasfund contributions and Medical/Life Insurance Cover.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of our equipment and machinery. You will be responsible for testing and tagging electrical appliances and equipment, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulations.
The ideal candidate must have:
- Minimum of Grade 10 or above educational level
- Must have formal qualification/training in electrical field
- Relevant experience in a similar role would be an advantage
- Able to read and write English at an Upper Secondary School Standard
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team in both English and/or Tok Pisin
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Previous participation in Job Ready or Trade Training Programs highly desirable
- Willingness to adhere to safety regulations and protocols
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from Supervisors and Technicians
- Physically fit and able to work in different weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine testing and tagging of electrical equipment
- Maintain accurate records of testing and tagging activities
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Disposal of waste materials in compliance with site standards
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols while working and adhere to company policies and regulations at all times
- Participate in training programs and skill development initiatives to enhance technical knowledge and proficiency
- Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with NPL Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and all related rules and procedures.
Mobilization Requirement:
- All Applicants must have an up-to-date police clearance Certificate, Acquired within the last 6 months
- Ability to successfully pass a pre- employment medical and drug and alcohol test
- Be a Local Porgeran (Cat 1A – SML, Cat 1B –LMP or Cat 2 – Other Porgera) Candidate and available to start immediately
- The Roster is 10 days on and 4 days off
