The New Porgera Limited (NPL) now has a vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the following position of Supervisor – Crane Operations. Reporting to the Specialist – Cranes and Scaffolding, this role is responsible for overseeing and managing the safe and efficient operation of cranes within Porgera Mine site. This role includes coordinating and supervising crane operators, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, company safety KPI’s and optimizing crane utilization to meet project deadlines and operational requirements.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Demonstrate understanding of all aspects of safety in a mining environment
  • CO ticket – will be verified 
  • 2 years leadership experience 
  • Tadano crane experience
  • PNG class 7 license 
  • SAP, Oracle or Pronto experience along with planning and scoping
  • Desirable
  • Demonstrate reading and building lift plans 
  • High risk work tickets – WAH, Confined Space, Overhead crane, Rigging
  • Experience using Microsoft 
  • External leadership training

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of crane operators, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate and schedule crane operations to support maintenance and project activities.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and ensure all lifting activities comply with safety regulations.
  • Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of cranes and lifting equipment to ensure reliability and safety.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for crane operators to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Work closely with maintenance, production, and other departments to ensure crane operations are aligned with overall project goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of crane operations, incidents, and maintenance activities, and report to the Maintenance Superintendent. 
  • Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures.

Mobilization Requirement 

  • This position is  open to PNG Nationals
  • The roster is 21 days on and 14 days off
  • Adhere to Covid19 Protocols 
  • Must Have an up to date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
