New Porgera Limited, a leading name in the mining industry, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join our team as a Supervisor for our Assay Lab Section in the Processing Department. The Supervisor will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the assay laboratory, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of our mining operations in Porgera.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Chemistry
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in chemical laboratories, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Computer literate with operational understanding of laboratory databases (LIMS systems)
  • Strong knowledge of assay techniques, instrumentation, and laboratory procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize workload for sample preparers, assayers, technicians and senior technicians by setting priorities and co-ordinate responsibilities to achieve daily/shift KPIs for the laboratory.
  • Supervises the activities of the staff and ensures that they meet clients TATs and production targets.
  • Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Providing quality control and reporting results to respectively client departments, within defined QC protocols.
  • Raise, investigate and report non-compliance incidents on SHE and Quality.
  • Ensure adherence and implementation of procedures at all times and that improvements to the procedures are recorded and made to controlled documents by the custodian.
  • Ensure effective handover and communication at end of shift regarding Safety, Quality, Production, Equipment and Staffing issues.

Mobilization Requirement 

  • All Applicants must have an up-to-date police clearance Certificate, Acquired within the last 6 months
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre- employment medical and drug and alcohol test
  • The Roster is 28 days on and 14 days off
