We are seeking a skilled and experienced Rigger/Scaffolder to join our Mobile Maintenance Section. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient erection and dismantling of scaffolding, as well as rigging operations to support maintenance activities. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Recognized Certification as a Rigger and/or Scaffolder
  • Certification as a Rigger and/or Scaffolder.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices related to scaffolding and rigging.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically fit and able to work in challenging conditions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and service manuals.
  • Prepared to work to flexible company roster and to varied working hours as required to accomplish the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Sound communication, technical, planning and time management skills.
  • Prior industry recognized safety training highly desirable.
  • Current PNG Class 1 or 6 Driver’s license with ability to acquire a Site LV Driving Permit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out tasks as directed by the Supervisor for the general operation of the Mobile Equipment Maintenance section.
  • . Erect, modify, and dismantle scaffolding structures following industry standards and safety regulations. Ensure scaffolding is secure and stable for use by maintenance personnel.
  • Perform rigging operations to lift, move, and position heavy equipment and materials. Utilize appropriate rigging techniques and equipment to ensure safe and efficient handling.
  • Work closely with the Mobile Maintenance team to plan and execute maintenance activities. Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of scaffolding and rigging activities. Complete job safety analyses (JSAs) and other required documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with industry standards and best practices.
  • Promote high standard with environmental practices covering all areas from storage of oil, disposal of rubbish to handling wastewater.
  • Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures

Mobilization Requirement 

  • This position is open to PNG Nationals
  • The roster is 28 days on and 14 days off
  • Adhere to Covid19 Protocols
  • Must Have an up-to-date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
