New Porgera Limited – POM Support has an immediate position vacancy for a Driver. Reporting to the Country Manager, the successful candidate will be mainly responsible for driving light vehicles to provide effective transport services in and around Port Moresby.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Current Class 6 PNG Driving Licence
  • A minimum of 5 years’ safe driving experiences in Port Moresby
  • The ability to fluently speak, read and write in English and Tok Pisin
  • The ability to handle confidential documents, receipts and dockets, read maps, road signs, traffic signs/signals, maintain record of duty status
  • Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
  • Knowledge of PNG Traffic Management procedure governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance
  • The ability to work as part of a team and foster teamwork
  • No criminal record
  • Sufficient level of computer literacy
  • Experience with protocol arrangements for visitors

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the transportation to and from designated locations, directly to the allocated route and destination with no deviations
  • Ensure safety of the passengers, other road users and operate the assigned vehicle with care at all times
  • Ensure PNG traffic rules are followed and that the vehicle registration and safety stickers are current
  • Ensure the company vehicles are operational without damage or faulty safety devices
  • Ensure cleanliness of all office vehicles
  • Report all hazards, near misses and or incidents to the supervisor immediately
  • Complete vehicle prestart inspections and daily Light Vehicle Check list on the company vehicles to determine safety systems are all operational and maintenance needs and report accordingly
  • Remain in communication with the supervisor and at all times and assist in other duties in the office and other housekeeping tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor when not undertaking transport facilitation
  • Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures

Mobilization Requirements

  • Ability to successfully pass a pre – employment medical and drug and alcohol test
  • Roster is 5 days on and 2 days off
  • Port Moresby based role
