Wood is currently seeking expression of interest from PNG Nationals for a HSE Manager (In-Country) to join our team in Papua New Guinea on a rotational schedule of 28/28.

Reporting to the PNG In-Country Manager, the HSE Manager (In-Country) will manage the HSE requirements and ensure compliance is followed and in line with Wood’s policies and procedures and client requirements to ensure risk is managed and opportunities are captured.

Responsibilities

  • Embraces Wood strategic purpose, goals, and objectives and translates these into practical concepts relevant to HSE management
  • To integrate HSE across the portfolio and foster a strong safety culture
  • Ensure contracts/locations within the portfolio are effectively planned and executed with up-to-date risk registers and HSE Plans maintained
  • Create, maintain and support the delivery of an annual HSE improvement plan within the portfolio of responsibility
  • To ensure compliance with legal and other requirements including work permits by performing regular audits and investigations and root cause analysis
  • Ensures compliance with applicable local, national, industry, and Client health, safety and environment (HSE) laws, regulations, procedures, processes and management systems
  • To recruit, lead and develop a HSE team that efficiently meets the needs of the portfolio and drives best practices
  • Develop project specific HSE KPIs and implement safety recognition program to instil a culture of safety among the work force
  • Establish productive relationships with client peers ensuring periodic engagement to ensure cohesive HSE delivery
  • Ensure external certifications remain operational within the portfolio of responsibility and that external surveillance is effectively accommodated
  • To effectively participate in the audit program ensuring a risk-based approach aligned with company policy
  • To ensure suppliers and contractors within the portfolio are effectively evaluated and managed as per company policy
  • Promote HSE best practices on contracts/projects and offices within the portfolio of responsibility
  • Support internal and external HSE presentation needs
  • Ensure all key HSE documents are created and maintained to facilitate effective work delivery
  • Ensure effective investigations are undertaken in a timely manner and learning shared
  • Actively promote safety initiatives such as Shield, Life Saving Rule, etc.,
  • Promote and reward desirable safety engagement and performance
  • Create and monitor Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans

Qualifications

  • Degree / Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or similar Discipline
  • 10+ years HSE experience, 5 years minimum within the Oil and Gas Industry would be preferred
  • 5+ years minimum management experiences
  • Experience managing multi-cultural teams and workforces
  • Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Strong technical skills in HSE management and emergency responses
  • A desire to be hands-on with a “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to drive increased engagement in the wider business
  • Knowledge of HSE standards and legal requirements
  • Experience of working with Quality and HSE Management Systems
  • Experience leading a team is required
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of internal and external audits and third-party certification audit practices.
