We are currently seeking a HV Operator to join our team, permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 15/13 Roster from Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen/Buka/Madang/Goroka/Alotau/Wapenamanda/Popondetta/Hoskins or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).

Reporting to the Mining Supervisor.

The HV Operator is responsible for operating the heavy mining equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.

The opportunity

Technical accountabilities

  • Follow all site and environmental rules, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible to operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
  • Follow all lawful instructions from the Driller and Supervisor and Leading Hands.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
  • Advise the Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
  • Participate in routine maintenance.
  • Practice workplace safety.

Scheduling accountabilities

  • Aim for and prove continued improvement towards nil environmental, safety or other incidences.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements.
  • Ensuring personal development in existing role.

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values.
  • A secondary school qualification in related field.
  • At least five years relevant, successful work experience.
  • Experience in Dewatering.
  • High integrity, honesty, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to react quickly to arising issues.
  • High energy with demonstrated capacity to deliver under pressure.
  • Ability to quickly establish and to maintain strong personal credibility.
  • Ability to influence, persuade and express ideas clearly.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
  • Ability to read and write to record pickups and maintain daily records.

Desirable

  • Current PNG Drivers Licence
  • Can perform dewatering roles when required
