SUPERVISOR APPLICATIONS SUPPORT

Based in Port Moresby and reporting to the Superintendent T&I Service Delivery, you will be responsible for leading, organising and supervising the T&I Applications team.

Your role will involve:

  • Demonstrating effective technical leadership to the applications support team;
  • Managing and implementing short and long-term plans designed to develop and maintain updated computer applications;
  • Providing leadership and hands-on application support, not limited to, enterprise systems, cloud SaaS and in-house developed could applications;
  • Giving specialist technical advice and assistance to the Manager T&I on the planning and preparation of technical specifications for application requirements;
  • Mentoring staff within the section to develop their knowledge of software development frameworks to automate manual tasks;
  • Assisting in formulating new and maintaining company Information technology policies to ensure that the company meets its legal obligations when setting up information systems;
  • Developing and maintaining operational resource plans, schedules and coordinate daily teamwork plans;
  • Liaising with Hardware, Software and external vendors on development, maintenance and support contracts;
  • Ensuring all development work has been formally documented in functional and technical specifications and stored within our CMDB;
  • Updating Superintendent Service Delivery on incidents, requests, team projects and initiatives;
  • Promoting and upholding The Ok Tedi Values as part of the T&I management team; and
  • Assisting in shaping the appropriate culture across the T&I Department and in translating the strategic intent of the Organization into the strategies, goals and objectives of the T&I Department.

To be considered, you must possess the following: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or in Commercial Computing or equivalent;
  • At least 5 years of work experience in the mining or heavy industry sector coupled with 5 -7 years in a leadership or managerial role;
  • Possess experience in cloud-based application development and deployment such as Power BI, Power Apps & Azure;
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum and project management tools;
  • Excellent organizational abilities, with a strong analytical mindset and proven problem-solving skills to address challenges effectively;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and guide teams towards achieving project and organizational goals;
  • Proven experience in leading and overseeing a team of developers within agile software development environments, ensuring high-quality deliverables;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, fostering collaboration and teamwork in dynamic, multi-disciplinary environments;
  • Highly organized with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, thriving in fast-paced settings without compromising on quality;
  • Shows adaptability and a willingness to learn and embrace new technologies and methodologies to meet the evolving needs of the organization; and
  • Dedicated to upholding company values and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and productive work culture.
