Our Lihir operation in the Shutdown Management Department is now recruiting for the position of Supervisor – Mechanical

The role will have the following responsibilities but are not limited to:

  • Ensures all personnel, visitors and contractors comply with site and contractual HSE requirements and holds people accountable for adherence.
  • Interrogate CMMS and develop a list of tasks that require scoping.
  •  Go to each task area, identify all task execution and permitting requirements and record on the Scope of Works template.
  • Check all notifications and discuss with the originator. Send back for more information as required.
  • Identify complete task steps and meet/communicate with all work groups required in the execution of the task.
  • Identify all parts, materials, tooling, and equipment required for each task.
  •  Locate all required P&ID drawings for each task and attach them to the scope of work.
  • Discuss task requirements with area & equipment owner / supervisor.
  • Work with Technical Specialists to audit and correct Scopes of Work to an acceptable standard for Planning.
  • Regularly communicate with area planners.
  •  Assist Senior Technical Specialist when required.

Essential criteria

  • 5+ years of demonstrated work experience essential and some shutdown execution/management experience.
  • Previous Mechanical supervision experience
  • Trade Certificate or degree in Mechanical
  • High-level experience in Tanks and Tails equipment maintenance, CCD’s and NCA circuits
  • Experience in fixed plant maintenance and operations of large process plants including planning and executing major shutdowns with a good understanding of factors influencing standard maintenance business practice KPIs.
  • Previous experience working in a remote location in a developing country is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team and contribute as required.

Desirable criteria

  • Exposure to project management or scheduling
  • Supervisory Training and Experience

The Requirements

  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
